How to Build a Clever A-Frame Hydroponic System

Do you feel like you lack of enough space to grow plants in your hydroponic garden? Well, all you need is an a-frame hydroponic system. Such system will let you grow plants two times more than a garden bed. Here we present you the steps on building the a-frame hydroponic system:

Materials

  • Timber for the frame
  • Cable mount
  • 3-inch drain/ sewer pipe
  • 1/4 –inch water hose pipes
  • 3/4 –inch pipes
  • plastic bin
  • pipe caps and connectors
  • O-ring or silicone
  • pipe brackets
  • digital thermometer
  • measuring tape
  • pipe cutter
  • miter saw

Step 1

As you see in the picture, there are 12 tubes, each of which holds 14 heads of basil. To start carrying out this project, start off on the side where a delivery system is located. There is a small reservoir there that is attached to a large float valve.

On this side, the way the water comes up is through the black line there. There is also a filter there that has a ball check valve on the bottom where you can just open up and flush out the filter to a manifold.

What is important here is how you can drop the pressure when they go up to the top because there are just too much on the bottom.

Step 2

Next, take a look at the pipe and the water system. That is the 3-inch sewer and drain pipe which means a lighter PVC pipe is used here than a normal PVC pipe as such pipe is a lot easier to cut and is a little cheaper.

In addition to that, you can also see some brackets there. Once you set your top ones level and what you can do is just go ahead and put your ones and put it right up against the bottom so that you don’t need to keep worrying about keep levelling off every time you put a new pipe on.

Step 3

Now, you can see the drain runs from the pointed area down there. There is also a bowl check out right there just in case you need to plan on putting another system right next to it. Besides, there is also a cap there that just lifts off. What you can do with that is hiding your pH. Just adjust your pH up or down inside it.

Step 4

Moving on to the next part of the frame, here you can see water that enters the pipe and travels down the tubes.

Really consider it as 10 FT system because it is called neutrophils technique in the system there. The water that travels down basically goes into the drain.

When building your own A-frame, don’t forget to also attach a thermometer to get the right temperature.

Step 5

Now is the backside. There are 3/4 –inch pipe going down into the C manifold there. Try to copy what it looks like to your own A-frame.
